Name: Melody
Character's name (first name first, please): Bikky Goldman
Character's age: 10
Character's gender: Male
Series the character is from: FAKE
Background: A ten-year old half-African-American, half-Caucasian boy, he enters the manga because his father was found dead, because stealing from drug runners that you work for often offends. After being taken in by Randy/Ryo MacLean for the duration of the case, Bikky gets himself almost immediately kidnapped along with Ryo's partner, Dee Laytner, but proves to be much more than a helpless kid when he lands the drug runners in jail by planting drugs (given to him by his father before he died) in the house during a police inspection. During an explosion. HE'S A CRAZY KID.
After getting adopted by Ryo, he proved to be somewhat homophobic, but mainly because he hated Ryo's prospective suitor, the charming Dee, fearing that Dee would hurt Ryo. After a while he comes to accept Dee, settling on a "loves to hate" relationship with him. Although he does throw a rock at a gay couple at his summer camp, this is during the early stages of Ryo and Dee's relationship, and it seems to be mainly because the sappiness they were displaying disgusted him.
He hangs out with an older girl named Carol, who has promised to date him once he's fifteen and she's eighteen. They've known each other for a long time: Bikky almost immediately recognizes Carol when she enters the manga, and he looks out for her when he sees her making deals with some criminals, saving her life on several occasions (most notably against a bear that he thought was a teacher trying to scare a student). He kisses Carol directly after his incident, declaring that she better not date that loser scum Bobby (which Carol thought was hilarious) because she was totally Bikky's. Which was basically his way of asking her out. And she agreed.
He gets dragged into the police station on several occasions for lifting wheels off of bikes/cars (though not for lifting one; he gets caught after about thirty), pickpocketing, and general misdemeanors. Ryo catches him teaching young kids (and by young, I mean about Bikky's age) the various methods of the "five finger discount." Bikky, despite his age, commands a lot of respect from other street kids, which doesn't change as he grows older (and becomes a complete heartthrob, no surprises there). He's not all that smart, preferring physical activity over studying, and is kind of clueless. He's a big fan of money: despite his early hatred of Dee, Dee manages to get him out of the picture for a romantic getaway with Ryo for a measly $100.
Bikky becomes a big fan of Diana Spacey (FBI agent extraordinaire) because she is (a) the hottest woman alive and (b) kicks some serious ass when she rescues him from some more kidnappers, these looking to make some profit off of child/teen prostitutes, to the point where he asks Ryo to get him her autograph, and proclaims that this is going to be one of his heirlooms.
When Bikky's in school and hears an explosion, he decides he wants to be the first one on the crime scene (apparently one of his goals) and, yelling "Geronimo!" jumps out of the window of his school. This wouldn't seem too big except for the part where his classroom is on the second story. He lands, completely uninjured, and runs off gleefully in the direction of the explosion. Bikky's fairly energetic (violently so; he doesn't mind a good fist fight) and has a short attention span; there's been some attribution of these to ADHD, but was never really taken seriously.
In the future (by which I mean about five years later), Bikky and Carol are still going strong in their relationship, Bikky's the resident "bad-boy," and he has a new friend, this one named Lai, who is incredibly similar to him (except with additional powers of floatiness that never get fully explained) except rich and doesn't steal money from criminals. (Which Ryo takes back from Bikky, who attempts to claim that he's being molested, which kind of fails once Ryo pulls out five hundred dollars or so from his pants.) Lai has a girlfriend named Lass who becomes very good friends with Carol. Although Bikky and Lai's initial reactions to each other are antagonistic (mainly because Bikky lands on Lass after jumping a fence), they become slightly closer after they beat up some hotshot punks trying to take over their basketball court, have a couple thousand dollars land at their feet while their respective girlfriends talk several yards away, and team up to rescue their abducted girlfriends. Lai and Bikky really get each other, which Carol finds amusing.
Bikky gets called in to mediate an argument between two teams of kids who share a same basketball court and both claim that they've been using it for years, just on different days; so he's fairly respected among kids, he's fair, and he's unaffiliated.
On one occasion, Carol mentions liking an extremely expensive piece of jewelry that Bikky knows he doesn't have the money to afford, but because it's going to be her eighteenth and he is head over heels in love with her, he undertakes several jobs for the police in order to get it for her, but refuses to tell Carol what for, creating what seems to be one of the first serious fights over anything. Of course, five minutes after he buys it, he sees a little kid crying because a bunch of teenagers just stole the money he was going to use to buy a gift for his dying mom, so Bikky returns the jewelry and gives the kid the cash, giving Carol instead a bunch of sunflowers (from Ryo's windowsill). Carol, having followed him, is extremely charmed by this, and...fade to black.
Personality: Brash, loud, violent, and rather crude at times; but ultimately a soft touch. He's got a soft spot for the underdog and a few authority issues to work out, and a rather instant dislike for bullies. He's extremely capable and expects the same out of a lot of people, and can be rather impatient. Since he accidentally forgets one of Carol's prospective suitors in a Dumpster, he has a tendency to forget small details.
He gets along well with the more nurturing type than the more-like-him type. He doesn't mind being taken care of, so long as he can do the same in return; but, likewise, he hates being seen as needing someone. He's very stubborn and independent. He tends to deal with negative emotions with violence; when broached with the topic of his racial background- and the teasing that must have accompanied it- he kicks Dee in the face.
He doesn't tolerate large criminal activity very well, partially because his own father was a drug dealer who ended up dying for this, partially because he knows how dangerous that life can be, and partially because he lives with two members of the NYPD. He seems to have given up theft for the most part once he gets older, turning instead towards slightly more legal means; he has the moral ambiguity of a cat, but generally does what he thinks is best.
He's fairly popular at school despite the handle of "bad boy"; Carol gets jealous on several occasions because he's seen talking to older girls, who have also told him to call them if or whenever he breaks up with Carol. But, despite it all, he's the faithful type: he finds the idea of him cheating on Carol ridiculous. When he gets worried about people he shows it by yelling at them (but what else is new).
Bikky isn't the type to do something because others think it's cool, and, because of that, he's the ultimate cool around. Headstrong, violent, unafraid, a little stupid, and very daring, what he likes best is kicking ass in the name of helping people.
